General Discussion / A more informed electorate?
« on: November 06, 2012, 12:58:03 am »
Throughout the past four years, the U.S. oil and gas industry has expanded public outreach efforts to better inform voters about what they do and their key role in the economy (job creation, etc.). Do you think these efforts to educate voters have been successful in that voters know more about oil and gas than they did four years ago? Also, do you think that voters' perception of the industry has become more positive?

Who do you think won the Oct. 22 Presidential debate on foreign policy?

In an '08 town hall debate against McCain, Obama said "I believe in the need for increased oil production. We're going to have to explore new ways to get more oil, and that includes offshore drilling. It includes telling the oil companies, that currently have 68 million acres that they're not using, that either you use them or you lose them." Where do you think he stands four years later, and do you think he's stood by these words?

General Discussion / Re: Score for Romney?
« on: October 15, 2012, 03:03:34 pm »
I think that Romney won hands-down. Although Romney is saying things energy-wise that will gain support from a pro-industry base I do wonder if Obama will get a lot of credit from undecided voters who have an incomplete understanding of the oil and gas industry. After all, domestic oil and gas production did increase significantly on Obama's watch...regardless of whether he actually had anything to do with it. Does anyone think that Obama could get a "free ride" on the energy issue based on the production numbers?
